It was no easy matter for a respectable young woman in the 1840's to get from England to Australia. But when Dorothea's beloved fiance` is convicted as a counterfeiter and transported to the penal colony at Port Arthur, she determines that nothing will keep her from the side of the one she loves-including marriage to a man she does not love.
