Teacher Laura Stoner is on the playground with autistic twins, Rickie and Trace, when they see an elderly man gunned down. The twins are able to recall the license plate number and number of shots fired -- critical information in the murder investigation. U.S. Attorney Mike Montana is charged with protecting Laura and the twins when it's revealed that they witnessed the murder of a mafia don.
