Spoiled Daisy Devreaux has outraged her father and he gives her a choice: jail or an arranged marriage to Russian Alex Markov. Before she knows it, the socialite is traveling with the circus Alex manages.

Phillips writes Alex as cruel, and some readers are bothered by the razor-edged cruelty he exhibits. Others find him to be closed and non-emotional yet fully redeemed. Daisy is strong and funny.
