Author Cheryl Anne Porter died in August 2004 of Breast Cancer. Her dedication to excellence at her craft and her commitment to helping other writers live on, though. In her name are two scholarship programs designed to provide promising writers, who cannot afford to do so, with opportunities to attend educational and professional development programs at local, regional or national writers' conferences. Donations to honor Cheryl's memory may be made to either scholarship fund and writers interested in applying for a scholarship may inquire at these addresses:
