Harlequin Regency Romance was an imprint from Harlequin. It began as a series of "category romance specials" released in the mid-1980s. Unlike the regular category romance lines, it was not issued monthly, but rather, periodically in sets of two or three once or twice a year. Finally, in 1989 it was spunoff into a monthly line, with the numbering beginning again with number one.
