BOOK DESCRIPTION: Heroine has an affinity with metal—she can read its psychic history. She’s in China, looking for treasures, and buys a puzzle box in the open air market. There’s a mysterious man who tries to pick her up, then hurts her—crushes her hand when she refuses him. She gets away. Then when she opens the box, a man materializes from it. He’s a shapeshifting tiger who has lost his ability to shift and has been cursed into the box to serve anyone who buys the box and figures out how to open it. Heroine treats him as a free man. They fight the guy who hurts her—who’s actually the one who cursed the hero. Lots of action, lots of twists and turns—it’s a really great story.

They’re rescued by the hero, a widowed farmer with six kids, who invites them to stay with him till their truck is fixed. Heroine is a retired ballerina with a checkered past who’s “allergic” to kids. This story is all about second chances and “what is love, really, anyway?”, it’s much more than a quick run-down of the premise and set up lets on. I recommend it for anyone who likes women’s fiction as well as a cracking good romance.

Gail Dayton is multi-published in both romance and romantic fantasy. At various times in her checkered career, she has taught junior college history, served as the entire editorial staff of two small town weekly newspapers, and worked as the chief clerk/paralegal in a rural Texas prosecutor’s office, as well as raising three children, numerous dogs, and a spouse. She now writes full time in her small-town Texas panhandle home.

BOOK DESCRIPTION: Set in England just after the end of the height of the Reign of Terror in France, the hero lost his sister to a prison massacre in Paris due to the betrayal of a fellow English peer. The book opens just as the hero has almost completed his revenge against that peer. He wins everything the nasty fellow owns, his estate, London house and all the contents, including the loser’s sister. And the loser promptly goes outside and blows his brains out. The rest of the book is about how the hero marries the sister as a completion of his vengeance and how they work out their marriage and (of course) fall in love. Very nicely done, good use of the history of the era and a cracking good yarn.
