[[Category:Authors - C]]
Jamie Carie is an inspirational fiction novelist who believes in the power of “story” to touch hearts and change lives. Her debut novel, Snow Angel, is a can’t-put-down story of redemption, hope and healing for the fallen and the broken. Her second novel, The Duchess and the Dragon (April 2008, B&H Publishing Group) is a passionate tale of a love between a reckless duke and a serene Quaker woman. Yet to be titled "Isabelle," a frontier woman with warrior fighting skills, will be in stores January 2009. The three books portray historical women who struggle with betrayal, self-identity and opposition in becoming the women they were created to be.
Jamie lives in Indianapolis, Indiana with her husband and three boys…and a giant of a dog named Leo.

Book three in a series by Jamie Carie

Raised in the small frontier town of the British held Vincennes, Isabelle longs for a life filled with purpose and meaning. She dreams of the day when she can escape the simple life and embrace the feeling that she is destined for something rare and wonderful. Escape turns tragic when her latest adventure leads her into a trap. She wakes to a nightmare - injured and alone, her brother missing, and a stranger named Samuel that she can't let go.

One of the Long Knives, Samuel Holt is a guardian – protecting and providing for the scattered forts dotting the Northwest Territory. He keeps his scalp attached with finely honed skills in weaponry, stealth and cunning. When war becomes inevitable, Samuel joins his friend, George Rogers Clark, in taking the important posts along the great Ohio River. He hadn’t planned on a woman of his own anytime soon, but then he had never imagined a raven-haired temptress who dances in the moonlight. When something so devastating happens that it nearly destroys her, he must fight unseen enemies with weapons of another kind. Everything that has come before has been preparation for this battle . . . not flesh and blood-begotten, but God-begotten, the most challenging fight they will ever face.

Imagine being born with everything the world can offer. When you walk into a room, people bow, admire you and try to win your favor. There is nothing you can’t buy, nothing you can’t wish for and have, and no one you can’t place under the powers of your persuasion. Now imagine, in a moment, it’s all gone, taken by the person you thought loved you the most. The world has flipped upside down and made you a slave. This is the life of Drake Weston, Duke of Northumberland.

A world away lives another kind of soul with a life of simple answers to simple problems. Serena Winter doesn’t know she hides in her safe, Quaker faith. She doesn’t understand the depths of passion, the overwhelming desires that can capture a mind and seduce a heart, turning sure beliefs into crumbing sand. All that changes when, in the dark hold of a ship, on a mission of mercy, Serena meets a man who is as mysterious as he is darkly beautiful. Captured, she is astounded to find she will do anything to have him. But gaining him as husband will not be the happy ending she thought . . . she has become one with a dangerous stranger. Now she has to fight for what she wants and what she wants has changed with the growing understanding that love means more than a feeling . . . more than a thrill . . . it might even mean the end to any life she ever dreamed of having.
