Dareville is a series of erotic romance novels and stories written by Leigh Ellwood for Phaze. As described on Ms. Ellwood's website:

Dareville is more than a place...it's a sensual state of mind, proof that great passion can be found in the smallest of towns. Dareville isn't based on any town or place in particular, but it is a place I often come to where I need inspiration. You could also say it's place people visit when they want to come often.

The name "Dareville" is derived from the word dare as applied to erotic romance, and from the proper name Dare, which is synonymous with Virginia (Virginia Dare being the first of the settlers born in the US; Dare is a common name found in the area). Each title in the series uses the word dare in some form.
Leigh Ellwood is the pen name of a writer of mysteries; the name she has chosen for the purpose of writing romance (be it chaste, sensual, or spicy) is derived from the names of two favorite entertainers. She lives and writes in the sweltering South and seeks inspiration in the many people she has met and loved over the years.

Having found moderate success in writing mystery and suspense, Ellwood decided in 2004 to try her hand (and pen) at romance. Ellwood's first attempt in the genre is Truth or Dare, the first of Ellwood's Dareville series with Phaze.

She is published with Phaze, Liquid Silver Books, Midnight Showcase, and Samhain Publishing, Ltd.. She has also contributed to Playgirl.com and SUITE.

Leighellwood: /* Books and Stories in The Dareville Series */

* Daring Red

* "I can't say anymore without giving away the creative plot twist the author has concocted for this lighthearted tale of mismatched lovers. Ms. Ellwood's vivid descriptions captivate and truly make the story come to life. Full of dark, Halloween-inspired atmosphere and rich sensual undercurrents, this short novella shows a lot of promise. I hope there will be a much-needed sequel to this book. I'm eagerly awaiting some sort of closure to what is otherwise a well-written, engaging short story." - Belle, Just Erotic Romance Reviews
* "The very talented Leah Ellwood presents a real twist in this tale of reincarnated love in Jack of Hearts. Can Lars accept that if he wants to love his Lila, he would have to become intimate with another man? The male-male love scenes are beautifully drawn, sexy and emotional." - P. Grant, Just Erotic Romance Reviews

* "I applaud Leigh Ellwood for writing a short story that made this reader stop and think after reading the last paragraph. Are we destined to love the soul of the person to the point where appearances are not important? Or is our love fickle to the point where we can be side tracked by someone's race, creed or sexual preference?" - Anita, Fallen Angel Reviews
* Leigh Ellwood gives us a sympathetic vampire protagonist and wonderful description of the contemporary setting. A wonderful holiday story that needs to be read to be appreciated. - Emily, Romance Divas

When Kathryn is not writing, she freelances as an editor for various small presses. She refuses let herself by dictated by current fashion. She would rather look like Jane Russell than Lara Flynn Boyle any day of the week, and thankfully her husband does not seem to mind. She refused Bill Moyers admission to the Waldorf-Astoria ballroom because he wasn't wearing his nametag. * 4 Ribbons from Romance Junkies! " I loved the atmosphere of THE STARS LOOK DOWN! It's both intimate and daring as the woman puts herself in the hands of a man she's just met and hardly knows. What's for sure, though, is the pleasure he gives with the sound of his voice, confident manner, talented hands, and wicked tongue. By combining a fabulous setting, mutual attraction, delicious mysteriousness, and anticipation of what will happen next, Leigh Ellwood has penned a terrific novella!" Tracy Marsac

* 5 Stilettos from Erotic Romance Reviews for Women: "Ms. Ellwood brought the characters to life and portrayed the setting factually. The plot was fast moving and well developed. Marissa became endeared to me from the very first chapter. It was only right that she should have the reward of pleasure of her own. The sexual encounters were tastefully done and arousing. You will not be able to read this story without becoming totally involved in it."

* 5 Unicorns from Enchanted in Romance: "Phenomenal short story! I was touched that this author was able to weave such a tender, loving sub-story about a couple just trying to hold on for however long to the love they've shared while a debilitating condition is ravaging the woman. Then the heroine's compassion and understanding of their needs while her body is being thrown into a raging lust is just pure ingenious. A must read that will worm its way into your mind and soul."

* 5 Stars from Fallen Angel Reviews! "Voyeur is a well-written short story that will have you hoping and wishing that your fantasies will come true. Did I enjoy the sizzling sexy short story? You bet! I would be pleased to get my sweaty palms on some more of Leigh Ellwood's work. * Three angels from Fallen Angel Reviews! "Muse is an enjoyable romance that lets readers experience a variety of situations in one story. While the plot starts slowly, readers will be drawn into Tania's life and into the lives of the characters she is crafting. As the real life Boone inspires her, readers will be pleased at the dual storylines. Their interludes are passionate and show the baffling attraction neither can explain nor resist. However, readers are poised for the conflict that is sure to arise from Boone's life and Ms. Ellwood delivers; Tania is in tears and readers are hooked to see what happens. The story finishes nicely with definite romantic sentiment."
* 4.5 Kisses from Romance Divas! "Muse is a deep story that pulls the readers in due to Leigh Ellwood's fantastic storytelling and writing ability. Through Tania, readers are able to experience the ups and downs of a writer's life through the pitfalls and triumphs of her career, the horrors of writer's block and the stress of deadlines. Wesley and Tania are an amazing couple that leap off the pages. Their chemistry is wondrous and I recommend wearing gloves and having a fan nearby when reading the love scenes. Muse is a fast-paced, excellent romantic read. You will not be disappointed."

Studio musician Cal Briscoe has it bad for his best friend's girl, and when Brady Garriston announces his engagement, Cal realizes he will never have a chance with the lovely and exciting Ellie Shaw. Losing interest in his work and discouraged with his love life, he decides to leave the city behind...and hopefully his feelings for Ellie. He accepts Brady's offer of use of the Garriston/Shaw home in Dareville, and is shocked to discover one amenity...Ellie's friend Sue Carmichael. Seems Ellie neglected to mention that she had allowed Sue to stay there, too!

Cal and Sue are the Odd Couple of Dareville, dancing on each other's nerves as they try to make the best of the situation. But how long will it be before Sue and Cal kill each other...or wind up in bed?
* 4 Stars from RTBookClub! "Ellwood's story is warm and enjoyable. And it's nice to see that although Cal and Brady aren't young men, they are just as hot as the younger heroes romance readers are accustomed to." - Leigh Rowling

* 5 Angels from Fallen Angel Reviews: "Dare Me by Leigh Ellwood will meet and beat your expectations of an erotic read. From one lust-filled encounter to another, Dare Me takes you into a world of erotic pleasures. From the moment the story begins until the end, you are drawn into a world of lust, sex and cravings of the body. Is this a world where maybe love can beat all odds and win out?"

* 4 Dolls from Erotic Romance Reviews for Women: "'Dare Me' is a wonderful little romp of a story. It hooked me immediately with the quite humorous start of a sex tryst gone wrong. As Cal ended up jumping from a balcony to escape a brute of a boyfriend bent on test-driving him, I knew I'd enjoy this one. If you're looking for a good, light read, then this book is definitely for you." - Kay Derwydd

* 4 Cups from Coffee Time Romance: "Cal and Sue are enchanting characters who fit together very well. Their relationship progresses at a realistic pace. The sensual tension between them crackles with almost visible energy. The sex scenes are hot enough to send a reader's intimate lingerie up in flames. Brady and Ellie are terrific supporting characters who add a lot of zip to the story. The plot line is intriguing and kept my eyes riveted to the pages."

* 4 Ribbons from Romance Junkies: "Ellwood's heroes are tender and tough, as well as blatantly sexual and unafraid to indulge in anything that will bring them and their partners pleasure, making DARE ME a truly erotic and romantic read!"

* 4 Stars from May Reviews: "The characters are active and the storyline interesting and the flow is smooth. The author leaves us with the brewing of a new plot if she wishes to indulge or with a satisfactory ending if she doesn't. Lots of hot sex..." Polly

* 5 Stars from May Reviews: "Ms. Ellwood has written a scorcher of a romance. Sexy! Sizzling! Hot! All can be said about this book. A must read for Ms Ellwood fans and those who can't get enough of hot steamy romances! This was a book I could not put down from the comedic beginning thru the hot sex scenes to the exploding end. I for one am hoping for a follow up story." Christy - Reviewer for MayReviews.com

* "With strong characters and a good storyline, the reader will have an erotic ride with the upheavals of romance to add to this tasty morsel of a tale." - TCM Reviews
