This is the romantic opening of the Vamp Camp series.

Did Mårten Larsson want to be a vamp? Not so much. He wanted it as much as he asked to have a sissy circle over the å in his name. He just woke up dead one day with a piece of paper that said, “Dude, you’re a vampire. Drink some blood. Don’t suntan.”

Luckily, another vampire finds Mårten and agrees to teach him how to live (well, not live, exactly) as a vampire. And so Mårten goes to Vamp Camp, where he has to survive without getting staked or baked, learn how to work with fangs and blood lust while spending time with his boyfriend, and employ his wicked wit as he masters the art and science of vampirism.

Vamp Camp is a series of four romance novels by Wynn Wagner. The series is published by Dreamspinner Press.

The books chronicle the adventures and misadventures of Mårten Larsson, a young man from a small Texas town who was a soldier in the American Expeditionary Forces of World War One. Through is ineptness as a weather forecaster, his commanding officer made him fly one of his own weather blimps. The airship was shot down over Germany, and Mårten became a prisoner of war. A German guard turned him into a vampire but abandoned him before telling him anything useful about his new "life."

Vampires in the Vamp Camp series are civilized. They police their own and take blood only from volunteers. Through the course of the four books, Mårten meets and loves several other male vampires.

The author has an affinity for first-person narratives, and this series is no exception. Each book is told by the protagonist, Mårten Larsson. The setting is Germany, and Mårten's command of that language is dismal. It is a kind of running joke throughout the series.

Vamp Camp was originally supposed to be a trilogy. The author was hospitalized for five months in 2010, and the story of the fourth book -- Fangs over America -- took shape then. The cover artist -- Reese Dante -- pokes fun at the author by putting the word TRILOGY and scratching it out to write in "#4" above it.
It's bullying on a grand scale.

Book Description
Fangs over America is the fourth and final vampire book in the Vamp Camp series by Wynn Wagner.

It was published in 2012 by Dreamspinner Press and is Wagner's 19th book, his 5th for Dreamspinner Press.

The novel is listed as "part four of a trilogy" but has been seen as a stand-alone book. Users and critics say Fangs defies the normal path of sequels not being as good as the first volume.

Blurb
Mårten Larsson is one of the richest bloodsuckers ever, but his unlife isn’t exactly a flight in the park. There are some things money can’t buy—like an instruction manual on what to do when the vampire queen quits and leaves you in charge of Europe. Suddenly Mårten has to juggle politics, his royal wardrobe, and this newfangled thing called “e-mail.” And his German still sucks.

But hey, Mårten can handle it. After all, he (sort of) survived World War I, being married to two voraciously horny vampires (at the same time), and life as a sniper taking out the most dangerous vamps in history. A little responsibility should be no problem… right?
Wynn Wagner (b1951) is an American novelist. He has written or edited 19 books. Among the novels he has authored, 7 are romance novels.

Wagner has an affinity for the 1st person narrative mode. Of his seven works of fiction, only one is written in the 3rd person.

Dr. Wagner is the coadjutor emeritus of the North American Old Catholic Church (NAOCC). In that position, he became an ordained priest and then a consecrated archbishop. When asked about an archbishop writing favorably about gay men, he said "It's a niche."

Since his retirement from active work as an archbishop, Dr. Wagner has concentrated on romance novels. The stories are usually adult in nature, but they always have some sort of moral awakening. They always have a happy ending (or happy-for-now ending).

Four of the books are part of a trilogy. Yes, it is a trilogy with four books. This is the 'Vamp Camp series, consisting of Vamp Camp, The Obscurati, The Vamp in the Silver Mask, and Fangs over America. All are published by Dreamspinner Press. It really had been planned as a trilogy, but the author found himself hospitalized for five months in 2010. The scope of the fourth installment -- Fangs over America -- came into being while he was in the hospital.

Mystic Ways Books is a small publisher located in Dallas and Chicago. It primarily publishes spiritual books but takes on novel-length romance stories when there is a spiritual component. Some of these romance books have plenty of adult content, which is probably a little rare for a spiritual imprint. The company was founded in 2008.
