In city of New Seattle on the Earth colony of St. Helen's, Amaryllis Lark is a prism, able to focus psychic energy. Lucas Trent, the head of Lodestar Exploration, breaks past Amaryllis's defenses when he hires her to track down a corporate thief. As prim Amaryllis and wild Lucas learn to work together, they try to solve this crime.<br />

One irritating aspect of this novel is [[Jayne Castle|Jayne Castle's]] insistence on using compounds such as coff-tea instead of making up new terms. It gives the story a cutesy aspect that the story doesn't require.<br />
