== The Artist ==
Katie Nelson is a regular cover designer for author [[Diana Laurence]], whose books are published by Living Beyond Reality Press.

Nelson typically creates her art almost exclusively using Adobe Illustrator, occasionally deriving vector images from original hand-drawn sketches. She uses slightly stylized images to convey book themes, and relies heavily on composition and typography to achieve an appealing look.

Her first romance book cover was 2006's ''[[Souls' Embrace]]'', for which she contributed the lovers' silhouette image that was incorporated into a cover design by the author. She subsequently did covers for Diana Laurence's imaginative collections, the three ebooks ''Soulful Sex: The Paranormal Collection'', ''Soulful Sex: The Science Fiction Collection'' and ''Soulful Sex: The Fantasy Collection'' as well as the trade paperback that combined the three. Her cover design for ''[[Bloodchained]]'' was also used for promotional merchandise.

Nelson graduated with honors in 2002 from the University of Wisconsin--Madison with a B.A. degree in Art, emphasis on graphic design. She has worked as a production artist for the advertising subsidiary of Roundy's, Inc. and for Cramer-Krasselt, a leading midwest advertising agency. She freelances especially as a designer of logos, and dabbles in photography, drawing, painting, and papercrafts.
