At eighteen, having spent all her life in a convent and intending in due course to take the veil, Iris nevertheless agreed with her Mother Superior that it would be a good idea first to venture out into the world to see what life was like. So she took a job as summer governess to the small son of the Greek business man Zonar Mavrakis - and found out with a vengeance!
