Overcoming dyslexia and the demands of motherhood, she has emerged as a favorite romance author. Recently, she has branched out to the more expansive arena of women's fiction. Her book This Matter Of Marriage was made into a movie for Lifetime.
In addition to numerous other awards, she is the recipient of a RITA award in the Traditional category for her novel The Christmas Basket, a Quill Award, and has been recognized as the 1996-97 Woman of Distinction Award by Soroptimist International of Port Orchard, Washington for her charitable work. Debbie Macomber was a 2009 RITA® finalist in the RITA®: Best Contemporary Single Title category with her novel Twenty Wishes.
