Books numbered 2521 through 2592 were published in 1983. New names continued to fill the list, while classic authors such as Betty Neels remained very popular with readers. In April, 1983, the Harlequin American Romance line debuted, adding a much needed United States focus to the publisher's offerings. The Loveswept line also debuted in 1983, a month or so after the Harlequin American Romance imprint. These two new competitors in the romance market gave U.S. audiences a different spin on romance.
