Harlequin Mystique was a Harlequin imprint which was published from August 1977 to February 1982. These novels were first published in France by French writers under the publishing house Librairie Jules Tallandier under a line called Cercle Romanesque Romans or Romantic Circle Novels and also at a latter date as the Floralies or Flowers Collection. The Mystique logo of the Eiffel Tower behind the French flag may be a nod to this as is the name Mystique itself. You will also notice that the French flag is again wrapped around the novel above the cover picture. This series is mainly romantic suspense with a few of the novels having Gothic elements such as family secrets, madness, murder and old frightening houses and mansions.

These are easy to identify by the covers which all feature a closeup of our heroine and then around her in a sort of collage are major elements and characters from the novel. Take for example the cover of Loss of Innocence by Magali - we have a close up of Claire and then around her we have her husband, the sports car that caused so much grief, a polar bear from her husband's arctic adventure and a dancing couple which is Claire and the Prince.
