Book Description

When the play of which she had had such high hopes folded, Gail decided to take a holiday with her brother in Devon, while she licked her wounds - and incidentally, tried to forget the actor who had been occupying most of her thoughts recently. But she found it was not so easy to get away from her old life, for when the leading lady of the local dramatic society was taken ill, and Gail was asked to take the part, she felt she could hardly refuse. Her efforts to forget men for a time were no more successful, although Mark Rawdon, the producer, was not on her mind for the usual reason! Somehow the two of them could not like each other - although Mark maintained that there was an attraction. Gail could not see it; she could only feel antagonism. Was she right, or was it, in her case, more a matter of 'once bitten, twice shy'?
