Brittle Bondage by Rosalind Brett

Biography

Rosalind Brett was a pseudonym used by Lilian Warren, Celine Conway, and Kathryn Blair. At the height of her career as a Mills and Boon author, Warren was considered one of the publisher's superstars, and set sales records and the standard for the romances published during the 1950's. According to Joseph McAleer in his book Passion's Fortune: The Story of Mills and Boon, Brett's work was so sexy for the era, it often had to be "watered down". She was from South Africa and passed away in 1961 in that country. According to McAleer, she is credited by Anne Weale as inventing the "punishing kiss". Brett/Warren came to Mills & Boon from Rich & Cowan, a publisher she felt didn't offer her enough support.

Rosalind Brett wrote three books as a Presents author. Her Presents titles were published posthumuously, possibly as reprints of earlier works. Writing under the Brett name, she published 20 novels for Harlequin Romance (she also wrote for the Harlequin Romance line as Kathryn Blair and Celine Conway).
