Preacher's daughter Rebecca Hill hired convicted killer Jackson Rule to work in her greenhouse. She trusts him when nobody else does. Both discover a deep attraction to one another, but Jackson's years in prison and violent childhood force him to stay away from Rebecca. Defending Jackson leads to a rift between Rebecca and her father, and it is only after tragedy strikes that Jackson is seen as more than an ex-con.
