In the second book of this mystery series, we meet Heather Wells, a former teen-idol, now an assistant dorm director at New York College, where she works so that she can attend college free. She shares a house with Cooper Cartwright, the brother of her former fiancee, Jason, another teenage pop-star. She is on the verge of showing Cooper just how much she cares for him when the severed head of a cheerleader is discovered in the cafeteria of her dorm. This keeps Heather busy trying to catch the killers. Then her father shows up and Cooper invites him to move in too. By the end of the book, Heather has discovered who killed the cheerleader, but she and Cooper decide to play it cool, at least for the time being. (Plus she meet this really studly remedial-math teacher.)
