Sandra Brown started her career in 1981 writing category romance under her real name and various pseudonyms before moving into historical romances, contemporary romance and romantic and straight suspense. Her early category romances are considered classics and highly collectible. Her first novel as Sandra Brown, Relentless Desire was published in 1983 in the Second Chance At Love imprint. Her Tomorrow's Promise was the first book released under the Harlequin American Romance imprint and she was also the first author published by the Loveswept imprint with her novel Heaven's Price.

Her contemporary novel French Silk was made into a television movie for ABC. She has been honored with many awards including the Romance Writers of America Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award. She also contributed to the Dangerous Men And Adventurous Women: Romance Writers on the Appeal of the Romance collection.
