Stephanie Laurens is the pen name of Theonne Ann De Kretser (b. 1953). The pseudonym is a combination of her two daughter's given names (Stephanie and Lauren). She was born in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) and has a Ph.D. in biochemistry (1978). She worked for many years as a research scientist in the area of cancer research and travelled with her husband through the Far and Middle East and through Europe. She currently lives outside Melbourne, Australia with her husband, two daughters and two cats.
Four years in London gave her the settings for her eight Regency romances which were published from 1992 to 1996 in the Mills & Boon Historical Romance imprint. In 1997 she started writing historical romance novels and is a New York Times, Publishers Weekly, Wall Street Journal and USA-Today bestseller.
Stephanie Laurens was a 2009 RITA® finalist in the RITA®: Best Historical Romance category for her novel Where The Heart Leads.
