By Alexis Taylor's standards, she led a very ordinary life. Being a librarian in New York City suited her conservative nature and her love of books. When the library received a bequest from the estate of a man in West Virginia, one book in particular caught her eye, and she brought it home to study the odd notations scrawled on its inside cover.

To her horror, Alexis found her apartment ransacked—-but nothing was missing. Then Derek Montaigne appeared at her door, claiming to be a treasure hunter and asking to see her library book.

Suddenly Alexis was plunged into a challenging and dangerous situation—hunting for buried gold and keeping one step ahead of the burglar!
