Caridad Ferrer was born in Manhattan and grew up in Florida. A first-generation Cuban American, she infuses her fiction with various aspects of cultural heritage, including those years she spent in Cleveland. She won the 2007 RITA in the Best First Book category for her novel Adiós to My Old Life.
