In Karen Marie Moning's story ("Into The Dreaming"), a contemporary writer goes back in time and falls in love with a 15th century Scotsman. "To Kiss In Shadows", a RITA-winning novella from Lynn Kurland, features a dark arts master and the blemished woman who falls for him. In "Dragonswan", by Sherrilyn Kenyon, superhumans fight beings with animal hearts. Madeline Hunter's "An Interrupted Tapestry" focuses on a German merchant and English noblewoman.
Of the four stories, only Hunter's offering does not hint at paranormal elements.
