Biography

Susan Combs wrote for the Meteor Kismet line. She later entered politics and ran for the office of Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. In 2006, Susan Combs was accused by her opponent, Fred Head, of writing pornographic novels, based on excerpts he published online from her novel, A Perfect Match. Combs responded by saying,

I wrote the book nineteen years ago. I received lots of congratulatory letters. I’ve served with distinction. I’m sad that the book company is out of business because I won’t get any more royalties.

The comments of Fred Head resulted in vitriol and response from the romance fiction community. Susan Combs ended up winning the election, becoming the Comptroller for the State of Texas in 2006.
