Luna, a recovering alcoholic, fights to rebuild a relationship with her teenager daughter, but she remains haunted by images of her own childhood and the father she barely knew. Thomas Coyote builds adobe houses and rescues strays. He comes into Luna’s life one extraordinary night when Luna saves his grandmother from a house fire.

Reviews

  • "[A] beautifully written ode to family bonds...an in-depth view of what truly matters in life - lasting relationships, especially the solidarity between generations of women. Readers should have their handkerchiefs ready and be prepared to become enchanted with the mystical New Mexico scenery." - Booklist
  • "As lyrical as a Spanish ballad, peppered with Southwestern metaphors and allusions, and written in a style evocative of Barbara Kingsolver at her best..." - Library Journal
