Mercy Bidwell inherited two things from her late father; a journal detailing his quest for the Silver Angel Mine, and his spirit of adventure. She plans on using both these bequests to find the fabled mine and thus prove everyone wrong. Her uncle, the mine superintendent, is determined to keep her safe and to that end, hires mining foreman Edward Cartier. Neither Mercy nor Edward anticipate the simple task of protecting her will lead to excitement, danger, and an unexpected love that will too soon be tested.
