In September 1996 Mills & Boon discontinued the long-running Romance series and split it into two different imprints: Mills & Boon Presents™ - for the more passionate stories - and Mills & Boon Enchanted™ for the more emotional romances.

The Mills & Boon Presents™ imprint adopted the name of an imprint of Mills & Boon's mother company Harlequin. Apart from Mills & Boon's own releases the imprint also included titles by the Silhouette Yours Truly and Silhouette Romance imprint. In July 2000 it was replaced by the Modern Romance™ series.
