Her family later moved to New London, Iowa, where she graduated from high school and then began her writing career by writing poetry and short stories. Eventually, Ms. Hale wrote more than 100 novels, mostly romance and nurse romance books and an occasional gothic romance. In addition to her own name she would write under at least three pseudonyms, Lynn Williams, Louise Christopher and Gail Everett.
