Sophie Dempsey and her sister, Amy, come to Temptation, Ohio to make a promotional video featuring Clea Whipple. From their first introduction to the small town, Sophie has a bad feeling, and that feeling is intensified when the mayor, Phineas Tucker, turns out to be a hot "townie," reminiscent of the townies who were rude to her and her transient family. Soon the video starts to sound like a porno-flick (thanks to Sophie's hot encounters with Phin) and bodies turn up in inconvenient places. Phin is attracted to Sophie even though his mother warns him to stay away from her, and even though associating with her might hurt his upcoming campaign for mayor. This book is rich with secondary characters, including Sophie's brother, Davy Dempsey (developed further in [[Faking It]]) who shows up to save the day.
