Jenn Lind is a TV cook-show host from Minnesota who is about to break into national television on a new cable network run by a conservative tycoon. She has been invited to be one of the grand marshalls for her small hometown's sesquicentennial parade and the network decides she should spend the entire week there shooting scenes for her new show. Unfortunately, she hates the town and the town hates her, even though her parents still live there and she did get her start there as Miss Fawn Creek over twenty years ago. The co-grand marshall is Steve Jax, a famous sculptor who had carved a butter head sculpture of Jenn when she was Miss Fawn Creek. The plot is somewhat slapstick, involving theft of the butter head, fishing shacks and a new Indian gambling casino, but the story is satisfying as Jenn tries to figure out what would really make her happy.
