Caroline Courtney is a pen name used by Penelope Jones Halsall - aka Penny Jordan - to sign Regency novels from 1979 to 1983. Penny Halsall entered a competition run by The Romantic Novelists' Association (RNA). Although she didn't win, an agent, who was looking for a new-style Georgette Heyer, contacted the RNA. In 1979 she published Duchess In Disguise, her first novels as Caroline Courtney and wrote 25 Regency Romances. She was advertised as The New Mistress of Regency Romance in the UK, England's New Mistress of Regency Romance in US and The New Georgette Heyer in Germany.
