She began to write at nine years old, and wrote for twenty years for her own enjoyment.  She worked at a trucking company, where she met her husband, and then decided to try and get her work published in 1980. Linda Howard is the pen name of Linda S. Howington. She was born in Alabama and has lived there all of her life. She began to write at nine years old, and wrote for twenty years for her own enjoyment. She worked at a trucking company, where she met her husband, and then decided to try and get her work published in 1980. Her first work was published by Silhouette in 1982.
