Book Description
Emma's father had died and she was left in charge of his estate. However, the trustees felt that a man was needed to get the job done and they brought in a distant cousin of hers, Nicholas. But she was relegated to being his assisstant.
Five years before, they had been a couple and he was very much in love with her and had asked her to marry him. She had rejected him, however, and ran away from him.
He still wanted her though & tricked her into marrying him "to save the estate".
