Book Description

When Eve Reston found herself forced to go to the lonely Carargue region of France to visit her cousin's baby, she went only reluctantly. Raoul DuBare had never approved of his stepbrother's marriage to Carol, and now they were both dead his dislike seemed as great as ever, so Eve took pains to conceal her identity from him - with the result that when she arrived at his home he promptly threw her out again. Yet what might have been the end seemed only to have been the beginning, and Eve and Raoul might yet have come to a better understanding - had the elegant widow, Madame Amelie Troyat, not decided she wanted to get rid of Eve herself.
