Elizabeth Thornton is the pen name of Mary George. Born 1940 in Aberdeen, Scotland, she became a teacher and established her own nursery school before emigrating to Canada with her family.

As many historical romance authors she was captivated by the the Regencies written by Georgette Heyer. Naturally her first published book (Bluestocking Bride) was published 1987 in the Zebra Regency Romance line. Many of her historical romances are set in the Napoleonic era prior to the Regency. She likes reading and is a Harry Potter fan. She also likes to travel to research her books.
