A Woman of Mystery was a promotion in the Harlequin Intrigue line introducing new authors to the line. Early books featured mysterious heroines, implying they were the "women of mystery" in question, but this was later dropped, so the title referred to the new author being the "woman of mystery." Many popular Intrigue authors like Gayle Wilson and B.J. Daniels were introduced as A Woman of Mystery. Paige Phillips was the final author introduced this way. New authors debuting after June 1996 were not noted with the designation.
