Caridad Ferrer was born in Manhattan and grew up in Florida. A first-generation Cuban American, she infuses her fiction with various aspects of cultural heritage, including those years she spent in Cleveland. She was nominated for a 2007 RITA in the Best First Book category for her novel Adiós to My Old Life.
She also writes under the name Barbara Ferrer.
