She had come to Spain to heal old wounds. When Lauren came to El Pariso to escape her painful past, she met Carlos Chavez, whose own past was marred by tragedy. His wife had died in a freak car accident for which Carlos blamed himself, even though he, too, had almost did in it. He seemed to be recovering with Lauren's help ... until suddenly his small son was kidnapped. In her panic and growing love for Carlos, Lauren feared this new tragedy would push him over the edge. Not only the child's life, but the father's precarious hold on happiness -- and now Lauren's future -- hung in the balance.
