Was there a way out or was she trapped? The castle was silent and dark. Marianne crept along the hallway, searching for the stairs. Suddenly she noticed a shaft of light coming from under a door. She turned the handle and stepped into the room. Immediately a figure lunged at her. She screamed and a rough hand was clapped over her mouth.  All too late she realized her mistake—she’d stumbled into Robert de Larsanay's private domain!
