  • The Hostage, The Mistress, and The Firebrand all share the same central set of events during the fire that set their respective stories in motion. It is heavily suggested that Tom Silver appears in the opening sequence of the Firebrand.
  • The Hostage is also referred to in The Firebrand (also by Wiggs), when the heroine - a bookseller - handled a book named "the Isle Royale"
