Valerian Caine, stuck between heaven and hell, is given the apparently impossible task of redeeming himself and reuniting the feuding Caine and Sevaric families. Returned to earth as Jocelyn Vayle, our hero saves Gwendolyn Sevaric and is invited to her brother's home. Now all he has to do is stop a feud, and he can return to his rakish ways.
