Ogilvie College in Ogilvie, Georgia invites struggling New Jersey film company, Tied to the Tracks, to make a documentary about it's African-American writer-in-residence, the renowned, Zula Bragg. Although the film company's owner, Angie Mangiamele, is thrilled to get the work, she is not too happy that the invitation is extended by John Grant, chair of Ogilvie College's English department, and her lover during her senior year in college. She is somewhat relieved that John is engaged to marry Caroline Rose, also a member of the English department and the youngest daughter of a prominent local family. But the coming of the film company unleashes all sorts of complications, not the least of which is that Angie and John find that there is still a flame between then. Plus the film company is playing detective in uncovering the story of Zula's secret past.
