Ker is the pen name for Marius Gabriel/Marius Gabriel Cippola. He is "a former Shakespearean scholar who left his academic pursuits to become a full-time writer."[1] According to Paul Grescoe's The Merchants of Venus [see the Romance Scholarship Bibliography for full bibliographic details], his "thesis at Newcastle University was Self-Knowledge in Shakespeare’s Tragic Heroes" (135).
