Miranda Lee is the pen name of Maureen Lee. The Australian author was born and raised in the bush. Boarding school educated and briefly pursuing a career in classical music she moved to Sydney and embraced the world of computers. She turned to writing as a creative outlet after starting a family, thinking it might also help the family finances. She'd never considered a writing career prior to that moment. Her sister, Emma Darcy, was published with Mills & Boon and Lee thought that it would be a good fit for herself. Her first book, After The Affair was published in 1990, after many years of submitting and being rejected. In North America her books are mostly published in the Harlequin Presents line.

She likes to create stories that are believable, modern, fast-paced and sexy. Her interest include meaty sagas, doing word puzzles, gambling and going to the movies.
