Paul Hater, an infamous jewel thief, is arrested when trying to dispose of a necklace belonging to the Chittabad collection which mysteriously vanished on route from India to New York. No amount of police 'persuasion' will make him reveal where the rest of the collection is hidden, and he is sentenced to 20 years imprisonment at the notorious Bellmore State Prison Farm, Louisiana.
