Biography

Enid Joyce Owen Dingwell, née Starr, was born on 1908 in New South Wales, Australia and dead on 2 August 1997. She wrote as Joyce Dingwell and Kate Starr. Her very first novel, Hum of the Forest, was published in 1931. The motion picture The Winds of Jarrah (1983) was based on her novel The House In The Timberwood. Her work was particularly notable for its use of the Australian land, culture, and people. According to one source, Dingwell passed away many years ago.

She started her career as an author for Mills & Boon, with many of her works published by Harlequin as well. As an author for Harlequin Romance, Joyce Dingwell published 59 romance novels. She began writing for the imprint in 1959 and her last book for Harlequin Romance was published in 1980.
