Book Description
Tory Bodeen has returned to Progress, South Carolina, ready to face the friend Hope's death and to deal with the betrayal that lead to her leaving Progress. With the help of Hope's brother, Cade Lavelle, Tory tries to rebuild her life, establish a business, and move on with her life. Unfortunately the past catches up with her as Hope's killer makes Tory a target.
The Southern setting creates a Gothic atmosphere that plays against Roberts' natural humor. As with most of Roberts' single title suspense novels, the cast of characters is large and complex. As is typical of the author, dark elements such as child abuse and society's reactions to private matters are explored.
