Claiming The Courtesan by Anna Campbell

Book Description

Verity Ashton is also known as Soraya, London's most celebrated and sought-after courtesan, and Justin Kinmurrie, the Duke of Kylemore, wants to make her his wife -- only to have her disappear before he can achieve his goal. Verity, who has changed her name to protect her family's reputation, resists Kylemore's charms, even after he sweeps her off to Scotland for a passionate tryst at his estate.

The sexual aspects of the novel, particularly the seemingly "forced" sex scenes made some readers uncomfortable, and the author's skating close to the line of rape made this novel controversial even before it was published.
