Book Description
When Nicki Styx wakes in the hospital after a heart attack, she discovers a bonus has come with surviving a near-death experience: Nicki can see dead people (and hear them), and they're counting on Nicki to clean up their earthly messes. One of the ghosts, Nicki's murdered friend Caprice, who makes for a mean, nasty ghost, is eager to drag Nicki into the world of voodoo and mayhem. In the living world, emergency room doctor Joe Bascombe is interested in Nicki for another reason...he researches near-death experiences.
Garey's debut novel, while filled with lighthearted fun (about death) also deals with issues of spirituality. Nicki's takeaway from her near-death experience is "Do unto others", and she finds that doing impacts many people.
